2026 marks the definitive arrival of ETIAS for Europe and many changes to visa policies. Here is the essential intel before you leave.

ETIAS for Europe (now active)

Since May 2025, ETIAS is mandatory to enter Schengen for 60 visa-exempt nationalities. Cost: €7, valid 3 years. Processing: 96h on average.

United States: strengthened ESTA

ESTA still required under the Visa Waiver Program. Cost: $21. Valid 2 years. Since January 2026, expanded biometric controls at entry and exit.

United Kingdom: ETA generalized

The Electronic Travel Authorisation now applies to all visa-exempt nationalities. Cost: £16. Valid 2 years. 100% online via the official app.

Booming e-visas

India (e-Visa 30/90 days), Vietnam (e-Visa 90 days multiple entry), Kenya (eTA since 2024), Sri Lanka (ETA), Turkey (e-Visa). Average processing: 72h, cost $15-100.
